What Is a Dummy Cake?

Cake is one of life’s simple pleasures. It’s sweet. It’s tasty. And while it may not be great for our physical health, it can do wonders for our mental well-being.

Cake is also symbolic. It represents the happiest, most celebratory moments in our lives including birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and more. When we see cake we have an almost instinctive, involuntary response to be happy.

Because cakes represent happiness and celebrations, they play an important role in marketing and entertainment, serving as a type of shorthand to get the audience or intended customer to feel a certain way.

Setting the Tone

What cakes represent is important. But in reality, cakes essentially are simply baked products composed mostly of sugar, butter, flour, and a few flavorings and food coloring. As such, they are subject to spoilage, drying out, and event melting if left under a heat source for even a short period of time.

That’s why actual cakes are impractical for such things as retail displays, window marketing, and filmed entertainment. Cakes that are left in a bakery window even for a few hours will start to lose their appeal. And cakes used for filming TV, film, or commercial production need to be able to stand up to both time and the harsh lighting that is used to illuminate sets.

Dummy Cakes to the Rescue

That’s where dummy cakes come into play. While they look exactly like the real thing and create all the same emotional resonance as actual cakes, in reality, they are fake cakes that are designed to maintain the same sweet, delicious look over time and under the harshest lighting and heat.

Creability Decor specializes in creating durable, delicious-looking dummy cakes for retail businesses, food stylists, and TV, film, and commercial production companies. Our realistic cakes emote happiness while maintaining their look practically indefinitely.
